Foam rollers are the best for applying the newer waterbourne basecoats. These rollers feature a phenolic core. The phenolic core is a hard plastic allowing for easy removal off of the roller frame as well as reusability dozens of times. Other cardboard core foam rollers shrink on the frame and have to be cut off. Also, if you are lucky to get the cardboard core roller off of the frame, when it dries...it shrinks and will not go back on!
